My husband, Dale, daughter, Laurie, son-in-law, Mike, can’t say enough about our experience of two days spent with Dave in Yellowstone on the 4th and 5th. We loved every minute of it. Rain didn’t stop us at all. There was so much to absorb, yet we felt we got most of it! How can we ever forget seeing the mother grizzly with four cubs or the wolves in the distance, let alone all the natural wonders our eyes feasted upon. Dave was the perfect match for us as far as we are concerned. Once we were on our own we got so much more from what we saw and did–though we kept saying we wished he were still with us explaining what we were seeing! An exciting side light was our son-in-law realizing from what Dave told us about the bacteria in the thermal areas that he now needs to return to school to study bacteria as that is much more fascinating to him than his microbiology degree relating to viruses! He has been at “loose ends” becuase something was missing in his life.

Tell him we followed his advice in the Grand Tetons even though the rain was so hard we could not see the Tetons themselves. Unfortunately the wildlife was also taking shelter so we could not see any at the Jackson Hotel.

Thank you for making this an invaluable experience.

Just a note of thanks for the wildlife tour we went on Monday, June 14th with Brenda. We both throughly enjoyed the tour and were more than pleased with our tour guide. Brenda was fantastic!! Her knowledge of the history of the area astounded us. We learned more from listening to her than from the many books I purchased prior to our trip. She pointed out so many points of interest that we would have missed on our own. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Yellowstone. Thanks again to Brenda and your company for making our trip even more enjoyable!!!

We want to hear from you!

Have you been on one of our tours? Then we want to hear from you! We are currently building our guest experience area to hear all about it. Tell us all about your guide, your day, and what you saw.

We just returned from our trip to Yellowstone and want to thank everyone at Yellowstone Alpen Guides for a great experience. We took two of your tours and our guides Brenda and David were both knowledgeable and personable. The two vehicles we were assigned were comfortable and well maintained. We saw more than we could have on our own and learned a great deal more. We will highly recommend your company to friends and family planning to visit Yellowstone.

On January 30th, my husband and I and some friends had the very fortunate experience of taking a snowcoach tour from West Yellowstone to Old Faithful. Our guide’s name was David. This was our first winter trip to Yellowstone after having been there many times during the summer and fall months. Needless to say, David made our trip. He explained a lot of the geology of the area, answered questions and was willing to stop when we saw something we wanted to take a picture of.

We just wanted to say THANK YOU to David. Please let him know he made our first winter experience in the park a very memorable AND enjoyable one. We hope to come back!

Hi there in West Yellowstone:

Just a note to thank you. We have been on several tours of all types since we retired and have traveled quite a bit. We went on your Yellowstone July 3rd and 5th. We have never been more informed, more entertained, and more educated than we were with our driver and guide, Jim Berry. He is a modern day Jim Bridger. We plan to return next year and we have spoken to many friends who may travel west. We plan to use your company again and have highly recommended it to our friends. Thank you folks a lot, hope to see you next year.

We had a wonderful tour of Yellowstone over the last weekend. Our driver/guide, Mr. Dan Hoskins was truly excellent. To us he is a historian, scientist, biologist, zoologist and many many more.

We were deeply impressed with his deep and wide-ranged knowledge, enthusiasm, consideration and professionalism. He was kind, personable, fun and attentive to us, a group of 24 mostly elderly Japanese women.

After three days of touring Yellowstone guided by him, we all felt somewhat attached to him, and it was hard to say good-bye at the airport. It was truly one of the best guided tour we ever had as Tanpopo group. Thank you very much for a wonderful tour of Yellowstone. Special “Thanks” to Dan, our guide, on behalf of the whole group.

On January 19th and January 20th my wide Ann and I had the pleasure of experiencing your snowcoach tours to both the Yellowstone Canyon area and to the Old Faithful area. Our driver and guide, Mike, was exceptional. While we have been to Yellowstone in the summer months, we have never experiences winter there until recently. The snowcoach made the extremely cold weather very bearable and Mike’s knowledge and demeanor made the hours fly by.

Please extend our thanks again to Mike for making our brief stay memorable.

I just completed a trip with Ambassadair Travel Club of Indianapolis to Yellowstone national Park on June 26 to June 30, 2002. We had Dan Hoskins for our local guide. What a treasure you have in him. He made the whole trip. He knew all the lore about the Park and had many stories to tell at every stop. He knew which geysers were active and where to stop. His many suggestions made the bus trip more enjoyable. On arrival one of the tourists lost a crown. He helped the Ambassadair guide find a local dentist to get it fixed. All the other tourists agreed and it took only thirty minutes out of our day. With service like that I hated to see the trip end. Congratulations on such an outstanding employee, he reflects well on your company. I have sent Ambassadair a letter informing them of his outstanding job.

Dear Scott,
I would like to thank Yellowstone Alpen Guides, especially our guide Dan, for taking us around Yellowstone Park. We had a very limited time frame, but Dan made the most of it. He was great!! Our board members enjoyed his commentary on Yellowstone. He even had pictures, interesting factoids, and a pair of high powered binoculars to make the trip even more enjoyable.

I would definitely recommend Yellowstone Alpen Guides, especially Dan, for anyone who wanted to get the most out of Yellowstone Park. He was even able to closely predict Old Faithful! The trip was outstanding! Our board members had a wonderful time.

Thanks again!

On January 10th, me, my husband, my dad, my sister and her husband and his mother had the privilege of going on a snowcoach tour through Yellowstone with a tour guide by the name of David. He was the BEST! He gave us a tour that was second to none and I hope that you will use me as a reference to anyone who is considering a trip through Yellowstone.

David was extremely knowledgeable of the area and yet explained things in a manner that made them easy to understand. I feel extremely lucky to have had him as our guide. I feel like I know the area so much better and understand geysers and hot springs much better now.

David presented the information in a manner that was very relaxed and did it so that we could enjoy every minute of the tour. He did what we wanted to do and how we wanted to do it. I especially enjoyed the tour around Old Faithful and the introduction to all the other geysers.

My dad at age 75 was seeing Old Faithful for the first time in his life and was impressed at how the water was going. Talked about it on the way back to Big Sky and on Friday as well.

Thanks again for your excellent job pf presenting Yellowstone and it’s wildlife in such an interesting and fun way. Thanks to David for an excellent job.

Dear Alpen Guides,
We want to thank you for the enjoyable day we spent with your firm on the trip to Old Faithful on December 28, 2001. From making reservations with Linda to delighting in Tim Daly’s wealth of facts and tales about the animals and the geology (not to mention the history lessons) of Yellowstone Park we had a marvelous time. The hours flew by and it will be an adventure long remembered by all in our party. Our trip in the oldest touring van also added to the remarkable experience. We much appreciate the fact that Tim really involved our grandchildren in the trip; they were recounting details of the journey days later to one and all.

We will higly recommend Alpen to anyone considering taking a snowcoach trip; we look forward to a return visit.

Dear Scott,
We want to thank you very much for your hospitality during our recent visit with the Salt Lake City Convention & Visitors Bureau to West Yellowstone.

We loved the day we spent in Sally! What an incredible way to see Yellowstone National Park! Our guide was excellent! Her knowledge of the park and the surrounding are added so much to our experience. Our favorite experience that day was watching the otters swim up the river. What a sight!

Thank you again for your hospitality. We look forward to a return visit to West Yellowstone.

I’d like to say thanks for the way our tour was handled from the first time we called till we left the coach. Melissa Hitzler insisted we use your service and it’s well that we did. The lady who took our many calls could not have been more professional and accommodating, even down to making it possible for us to go to Canyon on Monday, which was our strong choice. Took our name, called when another group also wanted to go that day and just made it happen.

I am very impressed with David, our guide, and have told the same story time and again in the last week: I didn’t think anybody could tell me much I didn’t know about the park. I have enjoyed laughing as I tell that because his was the best tour I ever took, anywhere. From caldera boundaries to magma plumes, to the Ph of sulfur cauldrons to the difference in head width of male bison, lots to share. And always remembered to keep every member of the group part of the conversation. I will always recommend your folks.

Dear Greg,
Thank you for driving our tour group to the Old Faithful Snow Lodge January 30. Your shared knowledge of the vegetation, geology, and wildlife made the snowcoach ride gorgeous. Kitty ’56 is a great machine that Yellowstone Alpen Guides manages to seem easy to drive and maintain. The snow falling, lodge pole pines, mountains and geology along with the eagles and buffalo was a trip I hope to remember for a long time. I hope to visit Yellowstone sooner than 25 years this time.

Thanks again,

My son, John, and I both want to thank you for the great job you did with our snowcoach tour to Yellowstone in January. We’ve had the opportunity to go on your tour the last two years and you do a tremendous job. Please accept this small gift as a token of our appreciation.

Take care and have a great winter!

We wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your sense of humor and great commentary on the snowcoach trip we took on February 20th. To say the least we unfortunately had extremely poor road conditions and poor visibility. We stopped counting how many times you hopped out and cleaned the windows so we could see better! All in all, your efforts rated a “10”. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for arranging a tour for our family on Saturday, July 8. Our guide Dave was wonderful – so knowledgeable, patient and great with our four children. We had a full day and he went the extra mile to pack as much in as possible (as well as to tolerate a lot of noise from a loud crew!).

Thank you again for the best way to see Yellowstone in a day!

Hello Scott, Mike and Tink,

I wanted to thank the three of you for showing us such a fantastic time in Yellowstone this past week. Your services went far beyond the expectations of our group. Tink, your willingness to write down the places we stopped to photograph was more help than you can imagine. It still took me 2.5 hours to write out my trip report, but without your help, God knows how long it would have taken me. Please let me know if you ever want to visit the Valley of the Sun, our home is open to you.

Dear Alice, Joe, Gregg, Lee and Richard,

I have just returned home from our Landscape Photography Workshop to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. The trip has been a truly memorable one and a huge success. The highlight of the trip for me and for the delegates was certainly the six days that we spent photographing from the snow coaches in the bleak blizzard conditions. This provided us with so many dramatic and evocative opportunities for capturing the beauty and spirit of Yellowstone in winter conditions. For me it was the most exhilarating six consecutive days of photography that I have ever experienced.

These wonderful opportunities for us were made possible by the helpfulness, enthusiasm and co-operation of all of you who escorted us into the park each day. We all very much enjoyed sharing our experiences with you and whilst you may have considered us to be slightly mad on occasions, I hope that you enjoyed the opportunity to help us get our images. My sincere thanks and appreciation to you for what you did to make our stay such a rewarding and thrilling one.

I hope to plan a return trip during the winter of 2010 and will be in touch nearer the time about the arrangements.

We just wanted to extend our thanks to David, who was our guide on Auust 24th in Yellowstone. It was one of the best days of our holiday. David was knowledgeable, engaging, and very patient with our teenage daughters. He listened to our hopes for the day and ensured that all were met. Even the spot for our picnic (which was delicious by the way) was well thought through, and the swim at the end of the day was very welcome.
Could you please pass on our thanks and best wishes.

We were indeed fortunate to have Dave Akers as our tour guide in Yellowstone National Park on June 14, 2008. Dave was extremely knowledgeable without being verbose. He was wonderful with my grandchildren and was always patient answering our many questions. All of us felt that we had indeed seen Yellowstone in a way which we could never have accomplished on our own. Please convey our thanks and gratitude to Dave by showing him this email.

I wanted to let you know what a gem you have in your guide Brenda. She was the guide that was assigned to our family for our recent tour of Yellowstone. Her charming personality made it easy to instantly feel comfortable and her knowledge greatly enhanced our day.

Due to the various age and health discrepancies with our small group, we were concerned that a full day might be too much for some and not enough for others. But Brenda showed us just the right mix of the park so that all were able to enjoy it. She explained so much to us concerning the history, the terrain and the animals that we left with a more thorough understanding of Yellowstone than we could have ever expected.

Thanks for allowing us to get to know Brenda. She is a wonderful person and makes a fantastic guide.

Scott’s snowcoach trip to the Canyon should be Number 1 in the book of mandatory life experiences. The guest comments we reviewed before booking this trip never came close to describing the professionalism, knowldege, and caring Alpen Guides pour into every trip. No better way to experience Yellowstone in the winter. Scott was impressive and we were fortunate that he went far beyond to ensure we had ample opportunities to explore the wonders of Yellowstone. We will return.

Just wanted you to know how much we appreciated Lee’s tour of the lower loop
of Yellowstone on August 7, 2008. Not only did he point out many items of
interest and know the history/inside scoop, he treated our children with
respect and answered their questions (numerous at times…). He also made
the tour family oriented, giving us time to look at the sights, eat lunch
and not feel rushed to make a deadline. I’m sure this was challenging for
him at times but we truly appreciated his time and effort. The kids have
commented on how much they liked the tour and Lee. We will certainly
recommend the tours to fellow travelors.

Thanks again.

Jan. 8 David took us on the Old Faithful tour. My husband Brad and I enjoyed it immensely. We also enjoyed all the information David gave us on the Park. There were even some things my husband didn’t know. I’ve been passing it along to our 3 kids, which is nice for a change.

Thank you. Brad and Linda Bradley

Robynne Godfrey-Hiles Says

Hello — my name is Robynne Godfrey-Hiles. I recently had the privilege of touring Yellowstone with an amazing guide, David. It was my very first visit, and I must say it was spectacularly breathtaking. I was traveling with another family who offered me the opportunity to view Yellowstone via snowcoach. I tried to soak in everything I was able to see and experience. I truly wish I could have spent more time exploring and learning. I have a very adventurous spirit and greatly appreciated the magnificent beauty surrounding me that day. It was such a perfect day. I hope I am able to return with my own family and allow them the incredible opportunity to experience for themselves. I just couldn’t get enough. I thought about how many times David and other guides must see Yellowstone and the surrounding area every day, but I can’t imagine not loving it every time. I’m sure that there are always new things to take in, and yes, even in the winter ( I love winter in general anyway J)!! As a matter of fact (even though I have no other references J), I think winter might be my favorite season to visit, however, I would more than happy to return and experience other seasons as well. Thank you again for a magnificent day. It will never be forgotten.
